1. Purpose and Goals of Excelsoft SCSRP

Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Policy (SCSRP) refers to the way in which organizations regulate themselves and demonstrate consciousness to the impact they are having on all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental. Excelsoft is committed to ensuring that any business undertakings are conducted as ethically as possible by following the below policies. This SCSRP developed for Excelsoft Technologies documents the goals Excelsoft has embraced to preserve a Sustainable Planet Earth and a Sustainable Human Society.

These policies while not always spelled out in this form have become embedded in the core culture of the Excelsoft organization. Our ideals align with one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals championed by the United Nations’ (UNSD Goals) Envision 2030 https://sdgs.un.org/goals.

2. Who We Are and What We Do

Excelsoft Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (www.excelsoftcorp.com) was founded in the year 2001 by two edu-enterpreneurs, who had worked for a number of years in the field of education and contributed to the creation of more than 23 new educational institutions in India. They realized early on that innovative and constantly evolving technology can be a significant contributor to improving the educational outcomes of learners everywhere at all stages of life and were determined to build technology products and provide services that would make that impact. In the 20 years of Excelsoft’s journey the company has built numerous products that, through Excelsoft’s customers, reach millions of learners all over the world. The charitable trust established by the founders of Excelsoft has created another non-profit school for K-12 education (https://excelpublicschool.com/eps/). This school has won numerous awards for educational excellence.

Excelsoft has also earned a reputation for helping advance education through sharing or donating technology and teacher training services, particularly to schools that serve socially and financially disadvantaged school children as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Excelsoft.

Excelsoft caters to the learning and assessment interests of educational publishers, universities and schools, the government, defense, and corporate sector. With operations in India, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, and the USA, Excelsoft is fast expanding to newer geographies.

Our vision is to be recognized as a thought leader in technology and consultation who can develop and deliver world-class eLearning and Assessment solutions that are reliable, and capable of capturing the learner’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Our mission is to provide the best eLearning and Assessment solutions using state of the art technologies that help our customers deliver better, faster, and cost-effective eLearning solutions.

3. Values

Excelsoft’s core values have been used to establish policies and goals for our corporate responsibility plan. These are:

  • Community Engagement: Our company invests in our community and educational programs.
  • Preserving the Environment: In addition to legal obligations, our company will proactively protect the environment.
  • Looking after Employees: To recruit and retain loyal and productive staff, it is vital to maintain a good working environment.
  • Learning: We actively invest in R&D. We are open to suggestions and listen carefully to ideas in order to learn continuously.
  • Cost Consciousness: We actively seek to reduce costs at every level of operations. Life-cycle costs, organization values and priorities are part of the cost consideration.
  • Risk Management: While innovation and agility are critical to our business, risk management is key to our success.

4. Policy Goals of SCSRP

4.1 Energy Management

Excelsoft Technologies has its Headquarters Campus at Hootagalli, Mysore. This campus has been designed from the ground up to be a Green Campus that promotes Sustainable Development and creates a low carbon footprint. In addition to legal obligations, our company will proactively protect the environment. The following describe policy and goals related to this campus of Excelsoft.

  • Promote respiratory health of workers and visitors through environmental beautification and sustainable technology use.
  • Minimize need for vehicular use on campus.
  • Conserve and manage energy usage by:
    • minimizing use of elevators and increase opportunity for exercise.
    • minimizing the use of air-conditioning.
    • providing open air and natural light options to the extent possible.
  • Promote resource and waste prevention management
  • Utilize equipment and materials that are made from recycled materials to the greatest extent available.

4.2 Paper Usage Reduction

Excelsoft will reduce paper usage every year to the extent possible. This policy supports reduction of waste goals. Excelsoft and its employees will do the following:

  • Use electronic communication internally except where required by law to be on paper.
  • Use electronic communication with suppliers and where possible with customers except where required by law to be on paper. This will include use of electronic signatures.
  • All financial transactions with employees, suppliers and government entities will be electronic.
  • Except where required for protecting confidentiality (Human Resources, Finance) there will be no individual or department level printers. All printers are community printers.
  • All printers will be set to default to two-sided to reduce unintentional one sided printing.
  • At a minimum, paper used will be at least 30% recycled content.

4.3 Gender Equality

Excelsoft will promote Gender Equality (UNSD Goal 5 Gender Equality). Our Human Resources team will actively monitor issues that affect Gender Equality in the work force and promote Gender Equality in all its policies and communications.

  • Increase the proportion of women employees in our workforce through recruitment and retention programs that attract female candidates.
  • Ensure that our benefits programs support a woman’s right to recover from pregnancy and care for infants.
  • Improve career development opportunities and coaching for women who display a desire and an acumen for moving into management. Enable women to progress in their careers and not drop out of the work force during and after maternity leave.
  • Provide 24 weeks of paid maternity leave, alternative work schedules and work from home options. Make additional leave-without-pay and other arrangements for new parents.
  • Require Workplace Harassment Prevention Policy (WHPP) to be adopted and accepted by all employees.

4.4 Good Health and Well Being

Excelsoft prioritizes the health and well-being of all its employees and their families (UNSD Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages). To ensure sustainable and all-around wellness of employees, Excelsoft will:

  • Provide health insurance policies that promote the financial, physical, and mental health of the families of employees.
  • Support the mental health of employees by providing training and consulting support to manage work related stress as well as work/life balance challenges.
  • Support employees’ general well-being by ensuring:
    • Work-life balance
    • Employee safety
    • Employee growth
    • Employee development
    • Employee recognition and involvement

4.5 Reduce Water Consumption

While most people take the availability of clean water for granted, Excelsoft is keenly aware of the fragility of the world’s water supply. Excelsoft has taken a two-pronged approach to reduced water use through focus on both the use and reuse for this vital resource.

  • To decrease our use of water, all bathrooms will have water efficient technology in toilets and sinks. Employees will be educated on the need to conserve water use.
  • Reuse water to the extent possible by implementing Sewage Treatment that cleans sewage and water so that they can be returned to the environment. Utilize this water for irrigation in garden and tree areas to reduce total water utilization.

4.6 Provide Quality Education

Excelsoft was founded by entrepreneurs with the goal of making quality education possible for a very wide set of learners. They have created technologies and pedagogical innovations that improve learning outcomes for learners everywhere. This is fully aligned with UNSD goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

  • Excelsoft will support Excel Public School (excelpublicschool.com). The school reserves a certain portion of admissions to economically and socially underprivileged children to promote equity in access to quality education (UNSD Goal 4)
  • Excelsoft will continue to build and enhance products in the education space.
  • Excelsoft will regularly interact with industry peers in digital publishing, eLearning, Assessment space and collaborates to identify new industry trends.
  • We work closely with experts in the field of learning across the world to identify emerging trends in learning pedagogy and student evaluation.
  • Excelsoft will continue to invest in research and development through Excelsoft Innovation Labs.
  • As a leader in this field and in our community, Excelsoft will also:
    • Sponsor or provide monetary and in-kind donations to: schools, local charities, sports clubs, societies, youth groups, and community centers.
    • Conducting learning programs for the local community – both children and their parents – on concepts from Science and Technology
    • Support local schools – both Public and Private by extending support in terms of building infrastructure such as classrooms, toilets, furniture as well as provide learning resources

4.7 Apprenticeships

Excelsoft Technologies believes that apprenticeship offers tremendous benefits to employers and employees alike. By investing in talent development through apprenticeship, we gain a pipeline of

loyal skilled workers and increased productivity. Apprenticeships enable entry level workers an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills pertaining to their interests and career choices.

  • Excelsoft will continue to expand and build upon its Apprenticeship programs.
  • Apprentices will be recruited from diverse backgrounds including rural and disadvantaged sections of the society.
  • Concerted efforts will be made to hire Apprentices into full-time positions enabling them to become long-term product employees at Excelsoft.

5. Future Policy Goals of SCSRP

Excelsoft has been “living” a sustainable strategy since its inception. We will continue to formalize policies and goals to help ensure that everyone in Excelsoft understands the criticality of our role in guaranteeing the future of our communities and the planet as a whole. Our intent is to persist in building our strategies in response to the challenges we face as a country and as a participant in an interdependent world.
