USP - United States Pharmacopeia

The Client

United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is an independent, scientific nonprofit organization focused on building trust in the supply of safe, quality medicines. Formed in 1820 when 11 physicians came together to take action to protect patients from being harmed by inconsistent, poor-quality medicine. For the past 200 years, USP has been dedicated to helping improve global health through standards setting in compounding, biologics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other fields.

Needs of the Institution

USP wanted to venture into the Indian learning space with a microlearning platform specific to USP India, for employee training and to sell courses to pharmaceutical companies across India. The organization previously used a global LMS, but the learning outcomes did not meet expectations. As the previously used LMS had problems with navigation and user flow, a state-of-the-art UX was essential. Strong analytics and reporting features, mobile responsiveness, payment gateway integrations, an option to express interest in a course, and whitelabeling were among the other major expectations from the microlearning platform.

The Challenges

  • The Excelsoft consulting team spent quality time understanding the institution’s needs with various stakeholders of the group. Excelsoft was able to propose a solution that not only met their expectations but also exceeded them in terms of technology and security.

  • The solution proposed was based on the lightweight microlearning platform enablED, which was developed by our young, enthusiastic team at Excelsoft for the needs of millennials who prefer consuming byte-sized video content on the go.
  • enablED catered to different learner types by providing an option to upload courses in audio, video, and image formats, including swipers. It also helped teachers add mini-quizzes at appropriate sections for students to understand their level of mastery of the concept/course. The platform also supported live video sessions for better social relatedness among students and teachers.

  • Teachers were able to upload academic content in the form of text, audio, video, and pictures from the admin panel with a click of a button.
